WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an experienced DevOps and Infrastructure professional to integrate with our talented Software Engineering team! Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, this position will be responsible for maintaining, improving and scaling our existing AWS infrastructure. In addition, this position will be responsible for our CI/CD pipelines, local development environments and other DevOps/Infrastructure concerns within the Engineering department. You will have a direct hand in shaping the future of our company's infrastructure and will serve as a subject matter expert to educate the rest of our Engineering team!
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Audit and scale our existing AWS infrastructure in various services, including but not limited to, S3, RDS and others. You should be comfortable digging into an existing AWS setup and making proactive changes, while maintaining maximum availability. Optimize our AWS infrastructure for cost efficiency - scalability without waste. You should also be able to report on cost impacts of potential changes. Improve AWS infrastructure region availability and disaster recovery. Keep the lights on! You accept responsibility for the day-to-day tasks required to keep things running efficiently. Bring proactive solutions to leadership that make our systems more robust. Maintain CI/CD infrastructure in AWS, GitHub and other services to improve developer productivity. Maintain container images using Docker, Docker Compose, Podman and other technologies for local and server environments. Plan and set up a machine learning/data infrastructure in AWS. Working with our Software and Hardware Engineers, including looking at code in PHP, Ruby, Python and other languages, as necessary. This is not an app development role, but an understanding of application development and ability to work with it is essential. Perform occasional scheduled infrastructure updates outside of business hours, if necessary. We'll work with you to give you time back on your schedule. Set up, maintain and respond to error reporting for all SwipeSense systems. This includes streamlining existing error reporting, outage reporting, etc. as well as helping leadership devise better reporting and escalation mechanisms. Perform on-call duties in case of emergencies - you accept the responsibility of keeping our systems online and in line with SOC 2, SLA agreements, HIPAA and other requirements. Perform root cause analysis of emergencies and outages and provide solutions to prevent them in the future. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
7-10+ years of experience handling working in DevOps and server/infrastructure engineering. Expert-level (7-10+ years) experience in AWS - certifications are a bonus but not required. Expert-level (7-10+ years) experience in Linux in a server environment. Excellent knowledge of databases, especially MySQL and AuroraDB, including experience scaling, index management, and optimizing inefficient queries. Knowledge of Docker, Docker Compose and best practices for container usage. Experience working in small team/startup environments - we have great processes, but you should be comfortable taking ownership without being micromanaged. Expert level knowledge of shell scripting (i.e., bash) Senior-level knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, PHP, Perl, Ruby, etc.) with the ability to quickly work with and learn others.
