POSITION DETAILS
Position Summary
The
Quality Engineer
shall support the business in areas of new product development; process improvement daily production support; analyze and interpret technical data (engineering drawings, QA specifications, purchase orders, etc.) and create shop routings, operations sheets, tools, and other necessary processes and equipment to produce a high quality product. This also includes QA assignments pertaining to customer quality requirements/clauses that need to be interrupted and information flown down to the other internal or external processes.
Principal Activities
Based on requirements from customer orders, plan sequences of operations for fabrication and assembly of products Ensure efficient and effective manufacturing methods are used that are compatible to available machines Specifies, design and/or procures special tooling or equipment required to attain product per customer requirement within budgeted cost and time Participate in the Companys Corrective Action and MRB Boards Analyze and resolve fabrication and tooling issues to avoid problems Value engineer existing products and processes to reduce cost, lead time and cycle times Complies with all company policies/procedures Complies with all military and contractual requirements Works with quality, sales, engineering, and operations personnel to drive continuous improvement in products and processes Develops, acquires, sorts and analyzes performance data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities Assure all regulatory requirements are maintained and kept current (FAA/PMA, UL, AS9100, AS9101, PED, ASME and other related agency certifications) Takes a leadership role on continuous improvement teams to drive root cause analyses and corrective action plans Prepares graphic presentations of performance trends with action plan summaries Participates in product design activities and contract reviews to determine conformance to customer requirements Performs quality and reliability assessments for recommended product improvements Investigate and respond to Customer's Corrective Action Requests Witness tear downs of Customer's Returns and Qualification Units Participate and lead MRB activity Validate Assembly and Test Procedures Develop Flow Charts, SPC, PFMEA and Control Plans for product families and processes Use of Six Sigma Methodology during Root Cause Analyses Escort and lead Customer Audits Assist Customer Source on issue resolution Track Continuous Improvement Projects Development of Standardized Work Instructions

Knowledge of Government/Customer contracts experience Familiar with the FAR, DFAR, and Aerospace Customers Requirements Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools. Strong problem solving skills aimed at identifying and correcting the root causes of problems or events, as opposed to merely addressing the immediately obvious symptoms. Good use of 5 Whys, Failure mode and effects analysis, 8-D, Pareto analysis, Fault tree analysis, Bayesian inference and Ishikawa diagram Strong technical writing Skills Ability to process and communicate information using Microsoft Office: Power point, Excel, Word and query data from database systems (such as Access, SQL, Oracle) Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, ISO and FAR 145 Must have strong math and statistics knowledge. Working knowledge of CAD (CATIA V5 or Solidworks) would be a plus. Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 Must be able to perform assembly level tolerance analysis Passion for data, analysis, trends, reporting and technology. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write clearly and informatively routine reports, correspondence, and designs work flows and procedures. Presents numerical data effectively. Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools. Knowledge of and experience working with customer and industry-specific requirements/standards across the product life cycle. Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project, and other applicable tools NDT audits FAI review Purchase Order Review
Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering preferred, experience in related position will be considered in lieu of degree. Master of Science in Engineering a plus.
Experience:
5+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience in an aerospace or high precision manufacturing environment with high mix / low to mid volume production rates preferred. Extensive machining background in the production of close tolerance highly precision products involving various types of metal alloys preferred.
PAY RANGE : $80,000 - $85,0000.00 base salary. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
