Classification Title: Research Administrator I

Classification Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Description: The main duties of this position encompass both fiscal and research related duties. The ideal candidate will manage projects within the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning for sponsored projects in accordance with university and sponsor regulations and provide policy and procedure interpretation to academic departments and assist in preparation of reports to federal and sponsoring agencies.

This position supports all aspects of a grant or contract award lifecycle including proposal submission, award set-up, award management and assistance with closeout activities by providing analysis and comprehensive administration.

Works as primary contact and liaison for school faculty and staff and the Division of Sponsored Programs for pre-awards and post-award actions and processes.

Pre-Award

Duties may include reviewing proposals, assisting faculty with drafting and/or creating budgets, submit applications in UFIRST, gather and format documents for uploading, submitting applications or information in other sponsor websites such as grants.gov or research.gov, final review of proposals before submission, read and interpret contract and other award documents to determine budget and other useful information about the proposal and pre-award process, process subawards and agreements and other pre-award duties

Award Management

Duties may include sending monthly reports to faculty, checking to make sure employees listed on the grant are paid appropriately, process award modifications, CAS exemptions, no cost extension requests or other edits to awards, advise faculty on updates, work with sponsors to alleviate any issues, effort and commitments, and any other award management duties.

Post-Award

Work closely with DSP and C&G to make sure expenses are appropriate and accurate, commitments or cost sharing has been met, get closeout forms signed, initiate award transfers for faculty leaving UF and other duties included in award closeout.

Some duties will include fiscal and travel transactions as well as basic office duties, such as answering phone lines, greeting visitors, and using office technology.

Other duties will be as assigned.

Expected Salary: $26.34-$-$28.73/hr commensurate on education and experience

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with fiscal and research related duties at University of Florida or similar institution

Preferred

Qualifications:

Working knowledge and experience with the University and sponsor regulations and policies regarding sponsored research administration •Proficiency in UFirst, FastLane (NSF), ERA Commons (NIH), UF myinvestigator, myUF Market, and other UF granting tools and accounting systems •At least one year of extensive experience working with pre-award proposal processing •Knowledge of basic accounting principles, practices, and procedures •Proficiency in PeopleSoft, UF fiscal systems, and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a plus •Ability to prepare financial reports and statements •Ability to analyze and interpret University and sponsor guidelines •Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
