Northrop Grumman Space SystemsLaunch and Missile Defense Systems provides an excellent opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer Software Systems Engineer to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, located in Huntsville, AL, plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. Relocation assistance is not available for this position, and this role is on-site with no remote options. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key part of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control designated networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission goals. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability that provides an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a critical component of all ground and flight tests, which verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system. This position is for a Software Systems Engineer on the C2BMC program. A Systems Engineer can fill this position with background/experience in Software Development, or a Software Engineer with Systems Engineering experience/training and a desire to support the Systems Engineering V for the Software Development Team. Essential Functions: Will be responsible for software systems engineering products for their Scrum Team, including developing software products Responsible for conducting thorough analysis and providing technical support for systems software products, including: Complex Problem Resolution Design Development Testing Operational Integration User Support Systems engineering support for the team that maintains, debugs, and configures related software products Works from specifications to develop or modify operating system applications Assists with designing, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documenting programs Collaborates with the SEIT organization to decompose system requirements into manageable software-level requirements Works with the SEIT organization to drive system use cases, concepts of operations (CONOPS), and sequences Coordinates with the SEIT organization to develop or update the system's external interfaces: Author or assist with proposals Provide software design Software product level use cases, sequences Create and maintain software design Algorithm Design Documents Functional Design Documents Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
