Performs complex technical work maintaining the Citys computer security network activities; does related work as required. Work is performed under minimal supervision. This position reports to the Assistant IT Director Networking.
Utilizes advanced knowledge of current cybersecurity trends and/or high-level technical expertise to integrate innovative security solutions with existing technology to enhance the network's strategic security posture.
Maintains security operations (e.g., intrusion detection/prevention, vulnerability analysis, security incident and event management system (SIEM), and patching, email and web filtering, security awareness training) by continually monitoring and analyzing those environments for vulnerabilities, security threats, unauthorized access to resources, and/or other security anomalies.
Works with the team to execute corrective actions to ensure that threats and vulnerabilities are assessed, prioritized, and addressed.
Assists in the installation and management of endpoint detection and response (EDR) system on every network device, restrict access to devices, and multiple network systems and software.
Monitors, maintains, and assesses compliance with software updates for Microsoft Systems and third-party software on-prem and in the cloud.
Works with team to address web and network security exploits, intrusion prevention, network traffic analysis and encryption.
Plans and recommends security enhancements on file servers, VPN gateways, Radius authentication, wi-fi access points and intrusion detection systems.
Provides training and technical support for network security to City employees.
Coordinates and schedules security updates with city staff and outside vendors.
Provide network documentation, training, and guidance to IT staff.

Financial Responsibilities:
Accountable for inventory/property management
Responsible for submitting proper paperwork for petty cash, such as mileage reimbursement.
Knowledge of:
Network protocols such as TCP/IP, PCAP, SMTP.
Microsoft Network environment and Windows operating systems including Server.
Windows and MAC operating systems
Knowledge and practical experience with computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile phones, tablets, and peripherals.
Diagnostic tools to resolve common network or computer related issues, such as connectivity and configuration issues.
Information Security best practices.
The design, implementation, security, and maintenance of a LAN/WAN environment of 1000+ users.
The administration of Microsoft Networks, next-generation anti-virus (NGAV) protection, and next-generation firewalls.
Skilled in:
Microsoft Office Suite products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, to an intermediate degree of proficiency.
Write professional and effective letters, memos, emails, reports, manuals, and policies.
Manual dexterity required to Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
Patching multiple systems using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Security incident and event management system (SIEM).
Ability to:

Diagnose security problems and to coordinate hardware and/or software solutions.

Bachelors degree in computer science or related field OR four years of direct professional experience in support of Network System Security AND
One (1) years of experience in designing, implementing, securing and maintaining a LAN/WAN environment of a 1000+ users, administering Microsoft Networks; intrusion protection systems (IPS); patching multiple systems using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM); security incident and event management system (SIEM); virtual private networks (VPNs) Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
CompTIA Security+ certification
State of Florida Class E drivers license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years of experience in designing, implementing, securing and maintaining a LAN/WAN environment of a 1000+ users, administering Microsoft Networks; intrusion protection systems (IPS); patching multiple systems using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM); security incident and event management system (SIEM); virtual private networks (VPNs) Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
Any or all of the following cybersecurity certifications: Comp TIA Network+ certification, Certified Network Defender (CND), Systems Security Professional (CISSP) through (ISC)2
Additional experience is accepted as a minimum requirement in lieu of the postsecondary degree on the following basis: additional four (4) years in lieu of the bachelors degree, and additional two (2) years in lieu of an associate degree.
