The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking a mission-driven, enthusiastic
Maintenance Technician II
who will provide excellent maintenance service to the buildings and grounds at assigned YMCA locations for the benefit of members and program participants while also providing excellent leadership to department staff. The Maintenance Technician II reports to the Association Facility Manager. This position, along with other team members, is driven through Facility Management Software, with work orders assigned by the Association Facility Manager. Maintenance Technician II will perform duties individually and with other facility team members and will be accountable for timely completion of assigned work orders. They must have a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall
installation/repair,
flooring repair, painting, general carpentry, etc., (list not inclusive). In addition, they must be able to support maintenance and repairs in our aquatic facilities, camp /youth development locations, association initiatives,
custodial/housekeeping
projects, and volunteer events. An ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and mechanical problems related to task assigned, and communicate any deficiencies to Supervisor, if cannot self-resolve is imperative. The ability to properly use powered equipment, hand tools, and power tools as deemed by assigned work order is required. Maintenance Technician II must be detail-oriented and exhibit pride in the quality of work produced. They must possess strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills. Maintenance Technician II is accountable for consistently performing, updating, and completing all assigned work orders through our Facility Management Software, as well as completing all training and association initiatives. The Facilities Department is supported though external contracts for all major Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing services; this includes all HVAC trouble shooting, repairs, and maintenance, major electrical repairs (such as repair of parking lot lights, high bay lights, etc., and major plumbing, where clogs or repairs cannot be resolved through the department's skillset, or available means and methods. The management of these contracts and services are handled by other representatives of the department and not part of Maintenance Technician II's job duties. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. A minimum of 7 years of work experience in facilities maintenance is required. Must have familiarity with OSHA standards, Ability to effectively identify and communicate maintenance needs that are independent of assigned work order while on site; Ensure Supervisor is informed, additional items are recorded in Facility Management Software, and more importantly items are resolved increasing efficiency and providing the best customer experience. Strong PC skills necessary. Well versed in working with Microsoft Office Suite, Facility Management Software, and corporate software systems for time sheets, trainings, etc. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment required. Must have the ability to work varied schedule as dictated by work order assignments, branch programming, or Association initiatives, including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, walk roofs, and stand for extended period of times. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Must have a valid driver license as travel will be required to support all branches throughout the YMCA of Greater Richmond's footprint. Mileage is reimbursed.
