We are seeking a Director of Pediatric Dentistry to lead and advance our Pediatric Dentistry program in the Celeste Myers Dental Clinic. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of pediatric dental care by overseeing clinical operations, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering innovation in education and research. The Director will play a pivotal role in developing interdisciplinary collaborations and enhancing patient outcomes through excellence in leadership, patient care, and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Program Development: Lead the Pediatric Dentistry team in delivering exceptional dental care, expanding services, and ensuring a high standard of excellence.
  • Clinical & Administrative Management: Oversee full-spectrum pediatric dental services, including preventive care, interceptive orthodontics, dento-facial trauma management, and restorative dentistry.
  • Practice & Financial Management: Drive the efficiency and financial sustainability while ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Strategic Planning & Growth: Develop and implement innovative strategies for expanding pediatric dental services and integrating interdisciplinary care models.
  • Quality, Safety, Risk Management & Process Improvement: Ensure compliance with best practices, patient safety protocols, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Education & Research: Serve as a mentor and educator for dental trainees, residents, and staff while contributing to academic initiatives, hospital committees, and groundbreaking research through the Rebecca D. Considine Research Institute .
  • Collaboration & Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with hospital leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders to elevate the profile and impact of pediatric dentistry at Akron Childrens Hospital.

Position Requirements

  • D.M.D. or D.D.S. from an ADA-accredited U.S. dental school .
  • Board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry .
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active dental license in the state of Ohio .
  • Minimum 5 years of pediatric dentistry experience with at least 1 year in a leadership role .
  • A passion for clinical excellence, innovation, and mentoring the next generation of pediatric dental professionals .
