As a Senior Systems Engineer in our Neuromodulation Operating Unit, you'll play a key role in developing next-generation medical technologies - from early feasibility to market release. Our neuromodulation portfolio includes implantable and external neurostimulators, infusion pumps, recharge systems, programming tools, and cloud-based digital health solutions that treat conditions such as chronic pain, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and more.

In this role, you will lead system design, development, and testing within a cross-functional, cloud-focused team. You will also translate clinical and user needs into innovative system and data architectures as well as serve as a technical expert, guiding integration, verification, deployment, and release activities.

You'll apply your engineering expertise, problem-solving skills, and cross-functional collaboration to bring life-changing technology to patients worldwide.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

    Develop and implement digital solutions aligned with the therapy roadmap and phased deployment strategy, collaborating with cross-functional business, engineering, and architecture teams.

    Define and manage system and data architectures, technical planning, integration, and trade-off analyses considering cost, risk, supportability, and technical debt.

  • n

    Translate business and user needs into high-quality engineering and product requirements within technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Lead and document system-level activities including architecture definition, interface management, performance modeling, system integration, and failure mode analyses.

  • n

    Design and maintain digital platforms, defining data architecture, flow, models, and governance policies.

  • n
  • n

    Identify technical risks, drive mitigation plans, and facilitate cross-functional communication to align design, test, and integration strategies.

  • n

    Streamline customer needs, use cases and user workflows into specific, well-written design features and associated integration test cases. Document tradeoffs, rationale, execute integration test cases to identify defects and potential solutions.

    Define the technologies, policies, and data models to be used in collecting, organizing, storing, and accessing information.

    Facilitate cross-functional engineering and project team communication to drive design decisions, align on test and integration strategies, conduct hands-on integration and testing of platform solutions.

    Iterate design and implementation based on user feedback and data insights and identify technical issues and manage their resolution

    Support regulatory submissions and ensure knowledge transfer to sustaining engineering teams.

    Act as a primary point of contact for assigned projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and influencing decision-making.

    Verify system requirements through inspection, testing, and analysis; Validate solutions meet user needs.

    Champion best practices in digital systems development, driving continuous improvement in processes and methodologies.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

n

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with minimum of 4 years of experience.

    Or Advanced degree with minimum of 2 years of experience.

    Proven expertise in building data models, workflows, and data-driven architecture.

    Skilled in architecting automated software and system integration solutions, including DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

    Hands-on experience with IT infrastructure, cloud systems, health software, and firmware development.

    Proficient in system definition, requirements development, traceability, and system-level verification and validation.

    Extensive medical device experience from concept through market release, including digital solutions integrated with hardware and communication interfaces.

    Experience with sensor-based systems and closed-loop control systems.

  • n

    Strong background in risk management tools (FMEA, FTA) and product risk assessments.

  • n

    In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance, including IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and FDA 21 CFR 820.30 for Class I-III devices.

    Effective communicator with the ability to lead teams and drive decisions in complex, cross-functional environments.

    Experience working directly with physicians and therapy consultants in clinical and development settings.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$104,800 - $157,200
