Site Utilities Coordinator (Cottage Grove, MN)

The impact you'll make in this role: The Site Utilities Coordinator is responsible for the safe, compliant, and reliable operation and delivery of site-wide utilities to manufacturing and support buildings across the Cottage Grove campus. The utilities include steam, natural gas, nitrogen, compressed air, potable water, and non-potable water. As a Utilities Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Leading the planning and execution of work on site utility systems as the subject matter expert and advocate for all site utilities systems and equipment. This includes leading the planning and execution of site utility work over our annual shutdown period along with routine and corrective maintenance throughout the year as needed. The Site Utilities Coordinator is also a leader in site energy management
leading the site energy team, maintaining the site energy metrics / advocating for continuous improvement in site energy savings, and working to ensure that the site is ISO50001 Ready. The role also serves as the liaison between 3M and our utility providers. Developing, planning, and implementing site utility renewal projects and execution of routine work such as carbon changeouts in support of Wastewater Treatment. The Site Utilities Coordinator will submit Engineering Work Requests and Shop Work Orders for both site maintenance and contractor support as needed. Working in cooperation with site departments and businesses to determine utility system maintenance and equipment renewal priorities, and natural gas allocations. Supporting Cottage Grove as the Subject Matter Expert for site utilities and performing support functions such as utility billing invoice allocations and payment coordination, corporate energy reporting for the Cottage Grove site, and coordinating monitoring and response to other items such as the site water supply system, Utilities Building Automation System, utility alarms, and interactions with the Minnesota Department of Health. You must have the ability and willingness to be on-call as the subject matter expert for questions / issues with the centrally distributed utilities including alarm response. Your skills and expertise: To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) OR High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering and/or manufacturing experience AND Three (3) years of Utilities, Facilities or Equipment in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Master's degree in electrical or mechanical studies from an accredited institution Five (5) years of Utilities, Facilities, energy or equipment related experience in a private, public, government or military environment. Effective communications Comfortable with Microsoft applications Skills include: Project Management; Capital Planning; Steam Systems, Natural Gas, Water Supply Systems or other equipment reliability related experience; Energy Management experience.
