Position Summary

The Accommodations Coach reports to the associate director within the Disability Student Success Center (DSSC). This role serves to coordinate student disability accommodations support for students to deliver individualized accommodation plans and conducting regular follow-ups to ensure students are receiving their approved accommodations and services. The coach will be with a team that drives the strategy, vision, multidisciplinary and data-informed approach, and operational leadership to develop, inspire, and lead the advocacy and accommodations of students with disabilities.

This position collaborates in a cross-Divisional and cross-institutional approach to administer student accommodations and liaison between DSSC and the faculty of their designated colleges. The coordinator will serve with a student-centered approach that contributes to a caring and safe campus life environment that supports the holistic success of students through coordinating accommodations, providing advocacy, and connection to resources.

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 10,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 180,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Accommodation coordination Provide comprehensive intake services for students with disabilities across designated colleges; function as the liaison between DSSC and the faculty of their designated colleges. Provide multifaceted administrative support which includes managing paperwork for students approved for academic accommodations, facilitating communications with students and faculty regarding academic accommodations, and maintaining a database of student information. Act as the primary point of contact for assigned students, delivering individualized accommodation plans and conducting regular follow-ups to ensure students are receiving their requested accommodations and services. Foster relationships with faculty and staff within designated colleges, positioning themselves as subject matter experts for specific queries. Conduct one-on-one training sessions with note-taking software and other adaptive technologies for each student assigned through DSSC; Facilitate coordination with interpreting services and mobility specialists when approved as an accommodation. Execute intake interviews and an interactive process, including orientation and referrals for students seeking accommodations. Interpret psychosocial and medical reports to determine eligibility for services, assess disability-related needs, and develop tailored academic/student life accommodations. Review and evaluate accommodations, conducting outreach and implementation in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Steward the management of disability records, ensuring the confidentiality of all student records (including disability documentation, database, and case notes) in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Support the implementation of ADA systems, focusing on documentation retention and case management. Provide advisement to students seeking ADA accommodations, acting as a success coordinator and advocating for students in need of support. Facilitate coordination with interpreting services and mobility specialists when approved as an accommodation. Department and Division

Maintain open communications with their immediate supervisor to share information and engage in issue-spotting and creative problem-solving to benefit the University community. Serve as a key leader in assisting the University's support of students with disabilities; including outreach and support to students and their families. Provide consultation to faculty or staff engaging students with disabilities. Collaborate with campus partners to provide intervention support for students. Coordinate timely and accurate preparation of reports. Stay informed and educate the University community and stakeholders as needed regarding issues, trends, and regulations affecting students with disabilities. Participate in related professional organizations for continuing development. Other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree and related experience. Knowledge of best practices within services for students with disabilities, accommodations, and ADA compliance at a university or college; experience with student advising or coordination. Skills that exemplify collaboration, communication, action and advocacy. Ability to lead, develop, and work with a diverse staff. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Ability to administer multiple deadlines and tasks. Demonstrated ability to analyze and assess data. Preferred Skills and Qualifications :

Complementing the required skills and qualifications:

Master's degree, and a minimum of two (2 ) years of related experience as a full-time professional. Excellent presentation skills. Excellent writing skills. Experience with leading special initiatives, programs, and strategic planning.
