Position Summary

The Press Operator at GRT's Falkville facility is responsible for operating compression molding presses to manufacture rubber parts, including those bonded to metal and ceramics, as well as participating in the fabrication of steel structures. This role ensures consistent product quality, safety compliance, and equipment maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities Operate compression molding presses: Set up, load/unload materials, and monitor press cycles for the production of rubber components, including those requiring bonding to metals or ceramics. Quality Assurance: Inspect rubber parts and bonded components for defects, ensuring products meet GRT and customer specifications. Material Handling: Prepare rubber stock and insert/position metal or ceramic pieces as directed by process requirements. Documentation: Record production data, complete batch paperwork, and report material issues to the supervisor. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on presses and tools to minimize downtime. Safety & Compliance: Follow all GRT safety policies and procedures, properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), and actively participate in hazard recognition and reporting. Teamwork: Collaborate with other operators, material handlers, and quality personnel to maximize production efficiency and minimize waste. Continuous Improvement: Suggest process improvements and participate in problem-solving teams as requested.

Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience in a manufacturing/press operation environment preferred, especially with compression molding or metal/rubber bonding. Understanding of quality standards and basic inspection tools (calipers, gauges). Physical ability to operate presses, handle materials, and lift up to 50lbs as needed. Ability to follow detailed work instructions and safety guidelines. Strong teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail.

Work Environment Stand, walk, and move between workstations for up to 10 hours/day. Regular exposure to moderate noise, heat, and manufacturing machinery. PPE provided and required at all times.
