Application Engineer In Advanced Manufacturing Product Integration

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI, three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]. You will be the subject matter expert for multiple advanced manufacturing technologies such as Additive Manufacturing, Flex Fab sheet metal forming, etc. and will enable their use within components and sub-systems across all of vehicle and propulsion systems engineering. You will provide technical leadership of product applications from idea generation through part or tool manufacturing and deployment, with emphasis on proactive, upfront solutioning within the global vehicle development process. You will lead and coordinate the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies as "off-the-shelf" mainstream executions at GM, aligned with the corporate strategic roadmap. This role is for an Application Engineer in the Advanced Manufacturing Product Integration team. In this position, you will be responsible for identification, development, and implementation of product applications of advanced manufacturing processes like Additive Manufacturing and Flex Fab metal forming. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate. Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial), Material Science, Metallurgy, Polymer Engineering, or Manufacturing 2+ years experience in automotive engineering and/or hardware engineering 1+ years experience with full value stream of one or more advanced manufacturing technologies: additive manufacturing, Flex Fab (CNC sheet/tube forming), etc. Demonstrated leadership of cross functional teams to complete projects Familiarity and knowledge of the vehicle development process and the associated standard work processes Understanding of component and subsystem development/release processes through the Product Development Team Experience working in an advanced development environment and able to deal with ambiguity Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, domestic This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

3+ years of industry or academic experience working in additive design & manufacturing, with processes such Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Multi-Jet Fusion (MJF), Material Extrusion/Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), and/or Binder Jetting. 3+ years Engineering Release and/or Manufacturing experience Previous Automotive Design Release experience Previous additive manufacturing and/or Flex Fab serial production experience Experience leading change management within large organizations DFSS Black Belt Certification Master of Science in Engineering Problem solving and creative solutions to design problems GM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
