Senior Director Of Operations
Working as the Senior Director of Operations for Chartwells at The George Washington University, you will be responsible for overseeing the leadership teams of our campus dining operations for both the residential and retail dining programs. You will guide our teams of subject matter experts in offering a great guest experience by creating excitement and enthusiasm, in accordance with the culture of GWU and Chartwells' programs and guidelines. You will implement our vision by directing our marketing, dining, sustainability, Quality Assurance, and culinary teams' efforts. This position will be responsible for driving guest satisfaction and engagement! Key Responsibilities: Leads, manages, and encourages a complementary team of leaders and associates, with the goal of providing best-in-class service to the client, students, and the GWU Campus Community Will be the main point of contact and responsible leader in the absence of the Vice President of Operations Drives and develops self and team towards building strong relationships with the client(s) and achievement of key performance indicators (profitability, safety, employee engagement, etc.) May serve on the district leadership team and participate in ongoing conversations with peers to share best practices, mitigate risks, champion diversity, and build community Ensures decisions are weighed for risk/reward and short/long term implications while gathering input from team members and partners Cultivates a culture of transparency, understanding, education, safety, and accountability throughout the campus dining program Serves as the representative/brand ambassador on campus and within the district and GWU community; attends key client and community events Ensures the needs of the clients and students are met or exceeded Supports functional areas of operation, including but not limited to safety, marketing, nutrition, and culinary and sustainability Ensures adherence to local, state, federal, and company policies, and conducts unit audits to ensure conformance for key areas (e.g. food storage, sanitation) Maintains compliance regulations and guidance for all applicable meal and retail programs, along with completing all required reporting on time Champions development within the team for promotional growth; conducts performance evaluations, along with succession planning, has full understanding of all roles within the operation Owns the financial results for the campus dining program and works with leadership to ensure accuracy for reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes Ensures consistent and fair administration of all policies and procedures are adhered to according to guidelines Preferred Qualifications: BS degree preferred Five years of foodservice management experience required Higher Education experience in board and retail operations is required Knowledge of P&L accountability and contract-managed service experience is required Strong leadership and communication skills Chartwells Higher Ed maintains a drug-free workplace.
