The Instructional Designer II is responsible for supporting the design and delivery of software training programs within the Information & Technology Services (ITS) department. Under moderate supervision, this role assists in creating and maintaining training materials, developing educational content, and coordinating basic training sessions for various software applications. The Instructional Designer II works closely with team members and stakeholders to ensure training meets the needs of end users and is aligned with the organization's goals. This position helps maintain and configure training environments, ensuring consistency with production systems. The Instructional Designer II addresses training-related service tickets and user requests, contributing to the overall success of the training programs. The role involves a combination of classroom, online, and blended learning approaches to ensure effective user training. Instructional Designer II participates in projects to understand workflows, report out training updates and document project details. Job Duties Support the design and delivery of Epic training programs and other software within ITS under moderate supervision. Assist in creating and maintaining training materials and developing educational content. Coordinate basic training sessions for various software applications. Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure training meets end-user needs and aligns with organizational goals. Help maintain and configure training environments to ensure consistency with production systems. Address training-related service tickets and user requests. Contribute to the success of training programs using classroom, online, and blended learning methods. Participate in projects to understand workflows, report training updates, and document project details. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required to support the organization's goals. Job Specific Competencies Instructional Design Proficiency - Ability to apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create structured, learner-focused content that supports knowledge retention and skill development. Training Material Development - Competence in independently developing and maintaining effective training materials, including presentations, guides, videos, eLearning modules, and assessments. Blended Learning Facilitation - Skill in delivering training using a variety of methodsclassroom, online, and blended formatsto suit diverse learning needs and environments. Software Application Knowledge - Familiarity with Epic and other enterprise-level software applications, with the ability to translate complex workflows into user-friendly training content. Training Environment Configuration - Ability to assist with configuring and maintaining training environments that reflect production systems for practice, demonstration, and instruction. Workflow Understanding & Analysis - Skill in participating in project discussions to understand user workflows and translate those into relevant and accurate training content. Project Documentation & Reporting - Ability to track and document training progress, report updates to project teams, and contribute to documentation related to training deliverables. Learning Management System (LMS) Support - Experience in uploading and organizing learning content in an LMS, and generating completion reports or metrics as needed. Customer Service & Ticket Management - Responsiveness in addressing training-related service tickets and end-user support requests, ensuring positive learner experiences. Stakeholder Collaboration - Strong collaboration skills to gather input from SMEs and end users, aligning training with operational goals and project timelines. Communication Skills - Clear and professional written and verbal communication used in content creation, end-user interaction, and team collaboration. Digital Content Tools Proficiency - Working knowledge of instructional design tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia) and familiarity with multimedia design principles. Continuous Improvement Mindset - Commitment to refining training content and approaches based on feedback, evolving technology, and organizational changes. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant field Required: 2 years experience Preferred: EpicCare Optime or Anesthesia experience, Nursing experience, and/or Clinical Operating Room documentation experience. Certifications & Licensure Required: Clinical employees must maintain licensure appropriate to clinical education and training, without lapse. Epic Instructional Designer must satisfactorily complete required Epic credentialing.
