Job Title : Information Technology Specialist
Exemption : Exempt/Administrator in an Educational Establishment
Pay Scale : AP3
Reports to : Director of Information Services
Working Calendar : 226 Days
Dept./School : Information Services Dept.
Primary Purpose : Develop and train staff to effectively incorporate the use of technology throughout the district. Lead and coordinate technology initiatives across our school district.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred). PMP certification or equivalent project management credential preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of instructional software applications Demonstrated knowledge of E-Rate program requirements, including Cat 1&2 services Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners Knowledge of curriculum and technology used in instructional setting Familiarity with education-related legislation and compliance standards. Strong technical background in networking, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, preferably in an educational or public sector setting preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Training 1. Design, develop, and present effective campus- and district-level staff development on the use of technology-based instructional strategies in the classroom. 2. Design individual instructional modules, instructional materials, and training aides that incorporate the use of technology into the existing curriculum. 3. Work with principal(s) and campus committees in planning technology training, implementing technology plans, and selecting instructional equipment and software. 4. Work with district technology staff and outside vendors to ensure that teachers and administrators have the support, equipment, and materials needed to implement technology-based instruction. 5. Ensure data integrity and security through appropriate protection from intruders, viruses and other potentially harmful web-related technologies.
Budget and Inventory 6. Assist principal to administer campus budget for instructional technology expenditures. 7. Monitor purchase and use of legal software at the campus level. 8. Oversee all aspects of the E-Rate application process, including competitive bidding, eligibility verification, and compliance with FCC and USAC guidelines. 9. Collaborate with finance and academic departments to assess infrastructure needs and develop strategic technology plans. 10. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs). 11. Develop bids for purchase, distribution, maintenance, and installation of hardware, software, and other technological equipment and materials used for district programs. 12. Maintain documentation and reporting for audits and funding compliance.
Other 13. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. 14. Responsible for the design and maintenance of the department's Internet site. 15. Maintain and administer all legal domains owned by the district. 16. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. 17. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. 18. Performs such duties as may be assigned by the Director of Information Services or designee.
