Cybersecurity Liaison

City of Boston . This is a temporary, grant-funded position expected to last until June 30th, 2027. Overview The City of Boston Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) Cybersecurity Team is seeking a Cybersecurity Liaison to improve the cybersecurity posture for the Metro Boston Homeland Security Region (MBHSR). The role reports to the Director of Risk, Compliance & Auditing and collaborates with Boston’s Cybersecurity team, DoIT, and regional cyber/technology teams. The MBHSR includes Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Quincy, Revere, Somerville, and Winthrop. Responsibilities Establish strong relationships with public safety officials and cybersecurity staff across municipalities. Develop and implement cybersecurity policies for each municipality and the region. Conduct risk assessments to identify threats and vulnerabilities. Maintain and update the regional risk register, providing insights for stakeholders. Set security standards based on industry best practices for all MBHSR municipalities. Assess and mitigate security threats throughout the system lifecycle. Facilitate quarterly meetings with regional IT personnel and weekly municipal meetings. Provide cybersecurity expertise and advice for the region. Manage communication with regional stakeholders. Coordinate cybersecurity projects within the region. Perform other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in Information Security, Risk Management, or related fields. A Bachelor's degree can substitute 2 years, and a Master's degree can substitute 3 years. Hands-on technical experience preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, CJIS, HIPAA, FIPS, PCI-DSS). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with enterprise risk management and compliance activities is desirable. Must be able to travel within the MBHSR and hold a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Experience with security solutions is strongly preferred. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Good judgment and attention to detail. Terms BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED. Union/Salary Plan/Grade: Non-Union/ MM2-06 Hours per week: 35 Additional Details
