We provide mission-focused technology solutions to federal agencies, with a commitment to security, innovation, and operational excellence.Position SummaryOnyx is seeking a Computer Scientist to support the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Criminal Investigative Division, Hi-Tech Organized Crime Unit (HTOCU). This role directly supports the Joint Criminal Opioid and Darknet Enforcement (JCODE) and Mobile Encrypted Networks and Communications Exploitation (MENACE) teams. The candidate will contribute to the development and deployment of analytical tools and systems designed to enhance investigations involving large and complex datasets.Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain advanced analytic systems to enrich and visualize data. Collaborate with investigators to identify gaps in data and provide actionable insights. Provide technical and professional support for investigative programs using scripting and data transformation techniques. Develop scalable tools to automate data ingestion and analysis. Leverage Linux-based operating systems, version control systems (e.g., Git), and project management tools in daily tasks. Deploy data tools and frameworks within cloud environments to support real-time operations. Present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences including briefings to FBI leadership. Support the integration of investigative tools with enterprise systems, ensuring compliance with security and operational requirements. Required Qualifications Security Clearance: Active Top-Secret clearance with Counterintelligence Polygraph. Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related technical discipline. Minimum 5 years in software engineering, analytics, or technical tool development. Proficient in infrastructure design and deployment of analytic systems. Knowledge of data management concepts, database design, and maintenance. Skilled in scripting and working with version control systems such as Git. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a secure, high-pressure environment. Qualifications Hands-on experience with investigative or law enforcement data systems. Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and methodologies for data synthesis and visualization. Proficiency in Java programming (2+ years). Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS for hosting and managing analytic tools. Familiarity with container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. Certifications such as:CompTIA Security+,CompTIA Network+,AWS Cloud Practitioner or equivalent Experience with Agile development frameworks and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
