Job DescriptionTitle: MachinistLocation: Orangeburg, SCHire Type: Direct HireBenefits: Full medical, dental, vision, 401kPay: $24/hourSchedule: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, M-FMUST HAVE: 3-5 years of related experience, proficiency in CNC and conventional machiningJob Summary:We're seeking a skilled Machinist to perform complex, specialized work in the construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and instruments. In this hands-on role, you will operate both conventional and CNC equipment to produce precision parts, perform machine setups, and ensure all components meet tight tolerances. The ideal candidate has advanced technical skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Job Duties:Machining & FabricationOperate conventional machine shop equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, vertical/horizontal saws) to produce and detail parts ranging from simple to highly complex within prescribed tolerances.Operate CNC vertical mills and lathes with Fanuc controllers.Perform precise machine setups, adjusting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut per blueprint, drawing, or engineering specifications.Inspect machined parts for conformance using precision measuring tools.Operate numerical control machines as required.Tooling Design & Support (as applicable)Design and construct tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing needs.Interpret tooling and fixture requests, create sketches, and fabricate solutions using various machines.Provide technical guidance and support to tool designers in developing new tooling solutions.Technical Expertise & Process ImprovementDemonstrate advanced technical skills and mentor/train other employees as needed.Contribute to process improvements, applying new technologies when relevant.Maintain broad knowledge of manufacturing functions and ensure best practices in production areas.Qualifications:High School diploma, military technical training, or equivalent vocational education.3-5 years of relevant experience in machining, toolmaking, or related manufacturing work.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and ability to train others.Skilled in reading and interpreting complicated technical drawings and blueprints.Proficiency in mathematics, handbook formulas, and use of precision measuring instruments.Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and solve multi-variable problems.Decision-Making & Leadership:May make recommendations or decisions impacting team or departmental outcomes.Assist in setting goals/targets for the line or department.Potential to direct or guide other employees.Work Environment:Machine shop and production floor exposure, with potential contact with dust, gases, fumes, and chemicals.Required use of protective eyewear; moderate noise levels typical.Physical Demands:Occasional sitting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting.Frequent simple grasping; occasional power grasping, fine manipulation, and overhead reaching.Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs occasionally.Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
