The OA generally meets with the patient before the Ophthalmologist to obtain medical history and prepare the patient for the examination.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for properly stocking, preparing, and maintaining the cleanliness of exam rooms during clinic.Reviews patient chart for accuracy of information.Prepare patients for physicians' exam. Perform tests based on the specific reasons for the visit and physicians' preference.Assists with in-office procedures.Prepare and ensure all consent forms are complete and accurate prior to in-office procedures. Prepares and cleans room after procedure.Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.May act as scribe to assist physicians with entering exam information into electronic record. Order diagnostic tests electronically and submit prescription refills approved by physician.Assists with preparing letters to patients and referring physicians.Assists with diagnostic testing.Follow-up on diagnostic tests when directed by physician.Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments.Assists in training of other ophthalmic assistants.Must meet and adhere to HEAs policies and procedures, uphold to the highest ethical principles and patient confidentiality. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.This position is home based from North Loop and requires traveling to our Pearland location on Friday to support the staffing needs.
