Job DescriptionThe Regional Sales Manager serves as the primary source of contact and communication with current and prospective Automotive OEM and Tiered customers, acting as the face of the customer for U. S. Steel and effectively managing the customers' needs, expectations, and price/volume negotiations. Will work closely with both multi-national and small- to medium-sized customers to develop and sustain strong relationships and execute account plans aimed toward increasing volume and margin. Strong engagement with the Customer Experience, Application Engineering and Customer Quality Engineering teams as well as other key marketing, planning, and operating functions will be required. The level of role will be determined by the candidate's experience. Responsibilities: Develop and execute account management plans within the assigned territory/customer portfolio to drive sustained volume and margin growth. Effectively identify and implement solutions that are aligned with the needs of the customer. Lead the matrixed cross-functional account team in execution of the account plan driving customer satisfaction and achieving growth, profitability and delivering key performance indicators (KPIs),Successfully develop and sustain strong relationships with the appropriate customer stakeholders beyond procurement (corporate and plant level) and maintain relations deep within all the appropriate customer functional areas. Manage periodic customer meetings/visits as part of the account planning/customer relationship responsibility. Ensure ongoing interface with our technical, quality and innovation teams to drive new opportunities and solve problematic technical situations at both existing and prospective customers. Enable development and execution of Joint Business Plans with key customers.Have an elevated sense of urgency to efficiently respond to customer needs.Effectively communicate and solicit the appropriate internal resources to aid customer communications. Lead contract negotiations, including robust pre-planning and recommendations.Negotiate win-win pricing / contractual commitments with customers on a monthly, quarterly, annual, or multi-year basis. Throughout the contract timeline, ensure contract adherence, including all areas of order-to-cash such as receivables, accruals, etc. Actively manage the account base to internally communicate reliable customer forecasts (short & long-term) and monthly shipping demands.Pursue and collect current market conditions/trends and competitive intelligence criteria to support our account planning and marketing efforts across the support functions.Maintain strong industry and product knowledge aligned with competitive and market insights.Utilize all our support tools such as Tableau, Salesforce, etc. as part of our account management and information dissemination.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, supply chain management or a closely related field will be considered. Masters preferred.Minimum of four years of proven/successful technical sales experience, or support expertise within an industrial B-2-B channel; B-2-C experience considered as well.Experience handling major national account customers, effectively managing both the c-suite as well as plant levels or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must demonstrate passion toward winning in a sales role; critical thinking through and navigating within various sales situations; building strong relationships; a high sense of urgency.In-depth knowledge of account management, customer value propositions & sales planning.Expertise in negotiation and closing deals with small & large organizations.History of meeting targets and growing new products.Knowledge of the automotive industry vertical and OEM customers is preferred.Knowledge of steel manufacturing and/or metals end-use applications is preferred.Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within North America.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with all levels of internal and external conflict.Solid presentation skills.Ability to use and navigate common business software packages as well as proprietary sales and marketing platforms.Proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP).Working knowledge of steel grades.WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Commuter remote structure.Ability to travel 50% of the time.Constantly operate a computer.Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.Company OverviewSince 1901, U.
