CMS is seeking an Accounting Specialist I to support a variety of financial operations. This role includes credit card entry processing, accounts payable review, payroll accuracy checks, and monthly bank reconciliations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. The position requires professionalism, discretion, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage monthly credit card entries: import transactions, audit coding, oversee approvals, and export to the accounting system
  • Oversee accounts payable inbox: review, process, and route invoices, manage rejections, and enter payables
  • Review payroll preview reports for accuracy to support proper payroll processing
  • Maintain records of vendor-paid receipts for audit readiness and documentation
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and ensure financial accuracy
  • Perform additional financial and administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication skillswritten, verbal, and electronic
  • Capable of maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive financial data
  • Ability to manage individual responsibilities while supporting team objectives
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in business or accounting with 1+ year of experience; or
  • Associates degree in business or accounting with 3+ years of experience; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience
Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Accounting Manager
  • No direct reports
Travel Requirements
  • 05% travel required
  • Minimal travel may include conferences, team meetings, or visits to other office locations
Office Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary work in a climate-controlled office with moderate noise levels
  • Regular use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment
  • Ability to remain seated for prolonged periods
  • Occasionally lift and move items up to 15 lbs.
