Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is instrumental in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. This role manages the month-end close process, prepares financial statements, ensures compliance with GAAP, and partners closely with internal teams and external auditors. Its a great opportunity for an experienced accountant to bring value through both technical expertise and strategic insight.
Core Responsibilities

• Ensure all financial activities are in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Manage the month-end closing cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance resolution.
• Collaborate with the Controller and CFO on the preparation and distribution of monthly and annual financial reports.
• Serve as a liaison across departments to ensure consistent and accurate financial data.
• Oversee unclaimed property filings in compliance with state requirements.
• Partner with external auditors and tax professionals to support audits and resolve complex accounting issues.
• Maintain and update fixed asset records and debt schedules.
• Compile bank reporting packages on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process by analyzing trends and providing financial insights.
• Maintain and update a rolling weekly cash forecast.
• Stay current on accounting standards, conducting research and implementing relevant updates.
• Develop and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support financial reporting deadlines, which may include occasional weekend work during close periods.
• Take on other finance-related duties as needed to support team objectives.
  

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  

• Minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience, with a strong grasp of general ledger functions and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with AS400 and/or Innovative software is advantageous, but not essential.
• Experience in the transportation, logistics, or supply chain sectors is a plus.
  

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to communicate effectively and work cross-functionally.
• Experience with AS400/TMW systems is helpful, though not required.
