Analyze and apply federal and state regulations and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax regulations to withholding management, information reporting, premium tax, unclaimed property, and vendor management. Be accountable for expense plan reporting and client accounts, ensuring proper regulatory filing on Information Reporting Forms (1099 Series, 5498, 1042S Puerto Rico series). Execute federal and state withholding deposits, premium tax, and information reporting regulatory filings. Recognize, research, and recommend resolutions to unclaimed property, withholding management, premium tax, and other tax issues. Utilize technology and lead projects supporting regulatory changes, team objectives, and continuous process improvement. Collaborate with all related Sammons Financial Group teams across locations, maintaining a professional, positive demeanor aligned with company culture and confidentiality standards.
What You'll Do
- Research and resolve various information reporting, premium tax, withholding management, unclaimed property, and expense tax issues, communicating with regulatory bodies.
- Ensure timely and accurate IRS filings for 1099 Series, 5498, 1042S, Puerto Rico series, and state filings, including estimated payments and accruals.
- Complete State Unclaimed Property Filings and maintain work papers and subsidiaries.
- Set up vendor master files with IRS-required documentation.
- Prepare State Use Tax filings and IRS 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC data.
- Contribute to components of annual financial statements related to expenses.
- Communicate with regulatory bodies and support audit processes.
- Coordinate projects impacting various tax reporting forms and unclaimed property, leveraging company technology platforms.
- Develop professional relationships across the organization and produce analytical reports for leadership.
- Maintain procedural documentation and adhere to internal controls.
- Mentor new team members and uphold company values.
- Occasionally work outside standard hours during tax season.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or relevant field (preferred).
- 2-4 years' experience in accounting or related area (preferred).
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant software.
- Desire to expand tax reporting knowledge.

Salary Range: USD $38,285 - USD $79,761 per year, depending on location and experience.
