GENERAL FUNCTION:
Performs duties related to the origination of residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals. Meets standards and objectives set by management for mortgage loan sales. Assumes responsibility for the mortgage loan from application to closing.
Responsible for risk management by following policies, procedures, and elevating concerns, ensuring actions drive a positive customer experience. Operates within the Bank's risk appetite, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops referral contacts with realtors, builders, COIs, and others.
- Masters all aspects of the mortgage loan originator role, including guidelines, processing, underwriting, and closing.
- Maintains knowledge of policies, loan products, and departmental procedures; completes required training.
- Follows protocols for escalation of underwriting and pricing exceptions.
- Processes applications via URLA, utilizing technology for communication, rate access, and file management.
- Collects documentation from applicants and delivers loan packages timely.
- Manages loan pipeline through to closing, maintaining communication with branches and applicants.
- Provides excellent customer service, managing expectations.
- Participates in meetings, calls, and training as required.
- Collects application fees per policy.
- Refers clients to other lines of business as appropriate.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain optimism and focus under adversity.
- Proven computer skills and basic sales techniques.
- Desire to excel in a competitive environment.
- Must be registered with S.A.F.E. Act via NMLS at employment.
