About the Opportunity
To support our continued growth and commitment to excellence, Nodak Insurance is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to join the team. This individual will play a critical role in overseeing the payroll function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and internal policies, and serving as a key liaison between our HR and Accounting teams. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to resolve payroll issues efficiently while contributing to the overall employee experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS
The Key Accountabilities for the position include but are not limited to the following:
Payroll Management
- Oversee the payroll function to ensure accurate and timely employee payroll processing, including tax withholdings and benefit deductions.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and escalated issues.
- Collaborate closely with HR and Accounting teams to align payroll activities with broader organizational processes, such as onboarding, benefits administration, and month-end reporting.
- Contribute to and promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team and across departments.
- Develop and maintain internal control procedures to reduce risk and assure efficiency.
- Improve, implement and ensure payroll system processes are accurate and align with internal policies and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and super user of Paycom, the online payroll service system, providing advanced system knowledge and support.
- Identify and implement process improvements using Paycom functionality to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Provide insightful and actionable analysis on payroll performance, trends, inefficiencies, and variances to senior leadership.
- Monitor payroll metrics (e.g., overtime, retroactive pay, tax adjustments) to ensure consistency and compliance with internal benchmark
- Leverage Paycom reporting tools to generate dashboards and reports that support data-driven decision-making.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 5 years of experience in payroll processing
- Experience with payroll systems such as Paycom, ADP, Paychex, Workday, or SAP preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll software systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
