The position responsibilities include:

  1. Budget development and monitoring
  2. Financial analysis and forecasting of expenditures and revenues
  3. Financial management and maintenance of accounting structure
  4. Grant expenditure review, reporting, and revenue requests
  5. Accounts receivable billings
  6. Representing the division or department at meetings and training programs
  7. Interpreting federal and state regulations
  8. Creating reports and developing new processes and procedures to ensure proper accounting practices

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The most visible MSP personnel are the uniform troopers, responsible for traffic enforcement, crime prevention, investigation, and community engagement.

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in accounting, finance, or economics.

Experience

Financial Analyst 9: No specific experience required.

Financial Analyst 10: One year of professional experience analyzing budgets, mortgages, loans, or financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9.

Financial Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience analyzing budgets, mortgages, loans, or financial data, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10. College credits may substitute for experience on a proportional basis.

This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including a drug test, criminal background check, and fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
