About the Role
We're seeking a GIS Product Owner who brings a unique blend of product leadership, business analysis, and technical fluency in modern GIS application development. You'll lead the delivery of scalable, cloud- web and mobile GIS solutions that serve internal teams and customers across operations, analytics, and field functions.
Our applications are built using ArcGIS JavaScript API (4.x), the Calcite Design System for UI consistency, React, and Vite for modern front-end performance. Your ability to work across disciplines facilitating requirements, owning the roadmap, and understanding architecture will be key to delivering value quickly and at scale.
Key Responsibilities Product Ownership & Strategy
Define, prioritize, and manage the product backlog for GIS web and mobile applications
Translate business goals into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria
Serve as the key liaison between business stakeholders and development teams
Lead roadmap planning, sprint execution, and Agile ceremonies
Define and measure product KPIs, user engagement metrics, and adoption success
Business Analysis & Communication
Gather and document requirements through interviews, workshops, and workflow reviews
Facilitate cross-functional discussions to align GIS capabilities with business needs
Communicate complex GIS concepts and technical options to non-technical audiences
Conduct user feedback sessions, demos, and iterative design validation
Technical Acumen & GIS Development Insight
Collaborate with engineering teams to design and build applications using:
ArcGIS JavaScript API (4.x) for dynamic map functionality
Calcite Components for accessible, consistent UI layout
React.js for responsive, component-driven interfaces
Vite for fast bundling and modern dev tooling
Guide API integration using REST, GeoJSON, and Web Feature Services (WFS)
Support deployment in cloud- environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Align product planning with modern DevOps workflows:
CI/CD pipelines, containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
Required Qualifications
5 years in a GIS Product Owner, Technical Business Analyst, or GIS Development Lead role
Strong experience with ArcGIS JavaScript API (4.x) and Esri web app tools
Familiarity with React, Vite, and modern front-end development patterns
Excellent facilitation, requirements gathering, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Proven track record working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
Experience with cloud- GIS architecture or microservices-based systems
Skills
Experience with ArcGIS Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, and ArcGIS Enterprise administration
Familiarity with spatial databases such as PostGIS, Snowflake, or SQL Server Spatial
Understanding of geospatial libraries (e.g., Turf.js, Mapbox GL JS, Deck.gl)
Working knowledge of Python, Node.js, or FME for spatial ETL and automation
Product Owner certifications (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) or equivalent Agile credentials
