Summary This position is part of the Department of Defense. Responsibilities As a IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) at the NH-2210-3 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for DMEA. Performs reviews and identifies gaps in the DMEA cybersecurity architecture and develops solutions to accomplish cybersecurity program goals. Ensures cybersecurity-enabled products or other compensating security control technologies reduce any identified risks to an acceptable level. Develops plans and techniques to address new threats and improve the overall cybersecurity program and policies. Advises leaders and Authorizing Officials of changes affecting the organization's cybersecurity posture. Participates in risk governance processes to provide security risks, mitigations, and inputs on other technical risks. Performs cyber defense incident triage, to include determining scope, urgency, and potential impact; identifies the specific vulnerability; and makes recommendations that enable expeditious remediation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the NH-03 grade level if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02 (or GS-11) grade level in the Federal service: Experience in a position covered by the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (https://public.cyber.mil/wid/dcwf/work-roles-2/) or equivalent. Implementing, developing, contributing to, or authoring cybersecurity policies. Overseeing or conducting key concepts in security management (e.g. Patch Management) and basic system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques. Implementing or managing cybersecurity related projects or initiatives. Monitoring external data to maintain currency of cyber defense threat condition and determine which security issues may have an impact on the enterprise. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
