Job Description A Brief Overview We are seeking a highly capable Senior Construction Defect Claims Adjuster to join our team. This position can be based in one of our offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or San Antonio, or remotely within the continental United States. The role involves adjudicating complex Construction Defect claims, reporting to the VP of Construction Defect Claims in Northern California, and working collaboratively to deliver excellent results for our clients. The primary duties and responsibilities include: Adjudicating moderately complex commercial construction defect claims with limited technical direction, potentially impacting departmental results. Solving complex problems requiring a broad understanding of issues. Reporting claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters. Analyzing claims forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to assess coverage. Investigating claims thoroughly, including interviewing involved parties. Managing claims in litigation and ensuring timely case progression. Creating and reviewing reserves according to policies. Identifying loss drivers and trends through data analysis to reduce claims frequency and severity. Coordinating expertise resources for case resolution. Preparing documentation and reports. Applying creative solutions for optimal financial outcomes. Negotiating effectively to provide cost-efficient solutions within authority limits. Processing mail, prioritizing workload, and communicating with involved parties. Maintaining a strong passion for effective claim management. Core qualifications and requirements: Good business acumen regarding insurance operations and profitability impact. Minimum of five years' experience adjudicating construction defect claims with exposure of $100,000 or more. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; alternative qualifications include insurance designations or additional related experience. Licenses in multiple jurisdictions, with the ability to obtain additional licenses within three months of hire. Excellent communication skills and relationship-building abilities. Strong evaluation, strategic, and negotiation skills. Customer focus and effective time management. Ability to articulate financial value at various responsibility levels. Discretion, judgment, and integrity in decision-making. Proven resilience and solution-focused mindset. Global mindset, client orientation, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in MS Office and excellent written/verbal communication skills. Fluency in English reading and writing. Desire for continuous professional development. The salary range varies by location, with specific ranges provided for different geographic areas, and includes performance bonuses and benefits.
