Inside the Role The Vehicle Control & Upfit team is responsible for the development and integration of Body controller ECUs and Body Builder/ TEM Interface ECUs. These components interact with many features in the vehicle from Ignition and power management, safety interlocks, lighting, and switches to drivetrain and Vocational Applications. We work daily in a global team with MBT, FUSO, Daimler Buses and other Daimler Truck business units. Our engineering team drives innovation by developing cutting-edge software and hardware for next generation trucks. We are seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer to join our team in Portland, OR, USA, and be part of the technology transformation to a new operating system (DTOS), leveraging a High-Power Computer (HPC) architecture. What You Drive at DTNA Conceptualize, plan, implement and maintain Model-Based Application Software for automotive ECUs used for Body Controls and Vocational Features Work with Feature Owners, Product Strategy, and Component Owners to review and align requests for new implementation and feature updates Coordinate Team of 5-10 SW modelers in different time zones Analyze the need for, plan, and execute SW refactoring for quality improvement and future SW-defined E/E architectures Support proof-of-concepts of Application SW designs for potential DTOS architectures Act as main SW lead for global XMC ECU platform, support installation of SW lead role for global ASAM ECU Lead SW release planning for XMC Software Generations Manage T3 tool chain for XMC SW development, planning, and issue management Support component owners in continuous improvement activities for XMC and ASAM Coordinate MiL/SiL Testing of XMC SW with global team Support validation of SW implementation with component & vehicle testing Support Feature Owners in troubleshooting and issue resolution Coordinate maintenance and further development of model-based SW development tool chain with stakeholders in MBT and DTICI Support component owners and Functional Safety responsible in identifying FuSa relevance for body controls and vocational features Plan and implement FuSa-compliant SW changes Support department roadmaps and planning for SW Modeling topics Train and mentor junior engineers in the team by delegating technical asks and guide them through the resolution Provide transparency of project milestones, technical status, and issue resolution to stakeholders and management Knowledge You Should Bring

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Software Engineering, or related field and prefer 5+ years of related experience Previous experience in working in a global development organization with teams and colleagues across the world At least one year experience in project lead, group lead or mentoring Embedded System Development experience and software design Experience with SW Modeling using Matlab/Simulink, XDIS, Git Experience in using Vector tolls (CANalyzer, CANoe) for troubleshooting Utilizing DOORS NG for requirements management Knowledge and understanding of body controls and vocational features in commercial vehicles Excellent communication skills to interact with cross functional and global teams. Knowledge of input/output circuits and signal conditioning for automotive sensors/ actuators Experience in utilizing scrum and agile SW development methods Ability to balance trade-offs between performance, cost, and safety in automotive designs Working knowledge in automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN) Ability to document technical concepts clearly (e.g., requirements specs, test reports) for diverse stakeholders Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex technical challenges Experience leading and mentoring others in identifying/solving the root cause of complex problems is required Exceptional Candidates Might Have

Master's degree preferred Experience with Daimler Truck Model-Based SW Development tools and methods, and with AUTOSAR ECUs Extensive experience with Matlab, Simulink/Targetlink, TPT, XDIS, Git, DOORS NG Good understanding of Functional Safety (ISO26262) Cybersecurity development experience Where We Work
