Compensation: $120,000 – $160,000+ (Based on experience)
About the Opportunity
My client, a highly respected and growing public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Trust & Estate Manager (CPA) to join their team. This is a top-priority search for a seasoned professional who is passionate about trust and estate work and ready to take a leadership role in a collaborative, client-focused environment.
Ideal candidates will be based in South Florida (Miami or Boca Raton), but outstanding professionals in Denver or remote locations will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee trust and estate engagements for high-net-worth individuals and families, ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Lead the preparation and review of complex trust, estate, and gift tax returns (including Forms 1041, 706, 709, and related filings).
Advise clients on sophisticated estate planning strategies, tax minimization, and wealth transfer techniques.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, attorneys, and financial advisors, delivering exceptional client service and building long-term relationships.
Supervise, mentor, and develop junior staff, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional growth.
Conduct and document tax research on trust and estate matters, staying current with evolving laws and industry best practices.
Assist with IRS and state tax examinations and respond to inquiries as needed.
Contribute to firm-wide initiatives to improve processes, enhance client experience, and support business development.
Qualifications
Active CPA license required.
At least 7–8 years of recent experience in public accounting, with a strong focus (60–75% or more) on trust and estate tax work.
Expertise in preparing and reviewing trust, estate, and gift tax returns (Forms 1041, 706, 709, etc.).
Deep knowledge of federal and state trust and estate tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
Proven ability to advise high-net-worth clients on tax planning and wealth transfer strategies.
Strong leadership, supervisory, and mentoring skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities—able to explain complex concepts to clients and colleagues.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with trust and estate tax software and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CCH, GoSystem, or similar applications is a plus.
