Job Summary
Job Description
This position will be responsible for directing and sponsoring Nidec Motion sourcing activities, working closely with the business segment procurement organizations and senior leadership to achieve sustainable reductions in the total cost of goods and services procured. The role reports to the Nidec Motion platform President and the functional Procurement leader in Nidec Japan.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare annual and long-term strategic sourcing plans to achieve Nidec Motion Procurement goals, including specific projects, expected savings, staffing needs, and timelines.
Partner with business segment Procurement leaders to establish and implement procurement policies, procedures, and standards ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
Drive performance in centralized procurement divisions by setting targets with Business Segment Procurement leaders and monitoring sourcing effectiveness.
Participate in committees to integrate strategic sourcing input into major corporate and BU decisions.
Track savings, communicate sourcing risks and trends, and develop strategies to manage sourcing costs across the company and BUs.
Support acquisition activities by assessing sourcing opportunities and aligning strategies during due diligence.
Coordinate with segments to identify and execute initiatives for year-over-year sourcing spend reduction.
Coach procurement leaders on leadership and business management skills.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
15+ years of experience in procurement.
Project management expertise.
Experience in cost control within a global environment.
Background in continuous improvement and lean principles.
Understanding of quality control measures and standards.
Knowledge of health and safety standards.
Experience working in a fast-paced consumer goods environment managing multiple priorities.
Strong procurement sourcing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Negotiation skills across various scenarios; strategic and operational mindset.
Proven ability to work with executive stakeholders to deliver results.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including total cost analysis.
Leadership skills to motivate teams and drive change.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
Master's degree (preferably MBA).
Certifications such as PMP, PM, EIPM, CPP, CSCP are a plus.
Travel
Frequent global travel required.
Languages
English mandatory; additional languages preferred.
