Under the direction of a registered nurse, provides care within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. Assists in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Follows patient identification procedures, provides appropriate information for all patient procedures, and collects and handles specimens. Assesses and implements prescribed interventions for the patient. Implements and documents discharge plan for each patient. Recognizes that ethical/legal/medical dilemmas exist in the nursing practice and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical nursing decisions. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Assists with the care and maintenance of department equipment. Completes and accurate charting of patient records. Completes and accurate record keeping of equipment and quality measures. Collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of care across the continuum, providing timely, safe and quality care. Responsible for providing a safe, HIPAA compliant environment for the patient and the staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Molecular Imaging & Therapy (MIT): The LVN in MIT will also support clinical trial record keeping and review. The LVN applies demographic research criteria and reviews potential research patient charts using research inclusion/exclusion criteria, prepares charts and updates patient profiles, provides data as directed. Must be able to perform front office functions.

Interventional Radiology: Assist with providing the patient and/or support person(s) with all required preoperative instructions to ensure a safe procedure, while also reviewing any questions or concerns to allay any anxiety that the patient may have before their appointment. The LVN obtains critical patient history and home medication regimens via telephone with the patient and/or support person(s) in preparation for their upcoming procedure. They communicate effectively and efficiently with the clinical team any safety concerns/questions related to procedural prep or patient/support person(s) concerns that have caused or may potentially cause a delay in the procedure, including cancellation or potential poor outcome. The general focus of the LVN is to collaborate constructively and professionally with the entire IR team in order to provide the optimal patient experience, maintain and improve both department quality initiatives and service excellence goals.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.

  1. One or more years of experience in a healthcare facility.
  2. Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  3. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Home Health: At least one (1) year of experience in the area of public health or home care nursing. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.

Hospice: Community health/hospice or medical/surgical experience is preferred. Understands the philosophy of hospice concept. Also understands the needs of the terminally ill. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.

License Required:

Current LVN License to practice in the State of California.

Certification Required:

Current BLS Certification.
