The Town of South Boston has an opening for a Human Resources Director. This position performs intermediate paraprofessional work. Duties include talent acquisition, employment development, performance management, compliance with policies, processing payroll, and administrative tasks related to employee benefits.
Salary Range: $45,000 - $65,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitate, mentor, and implement HR functions in the realms of recruitment, classification, employee relations, performance evaluation, and compliance audits.
- Create and refine methodologies for gathering and analyzing data for reports and special initiatives as required.
- Participate in processing payroll and managing employee benefits.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive workplace culture, fostering trustworthy relationships.
- Possess a solid understanding of federal and state employment regulations.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
- Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, communicating professionally and courteously.
- Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing tasks while adhering to deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED, proficient in the areas of implementation of HR functions for recruitment, employee relations, performance evaluations, compliance audits, state and federal employment regulations, processing payrolls, and management of employment benefits.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
- HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, or CCP; HR experience with a government or public sector setting; BS degree in human resource with 7+ years of experience in field; education or experience in public administration and payroll process.
