Position Overview: The Benefits Manager will be responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of our TrueNAS benefits packages, ensuring they are competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with all applicable regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of benefits administration, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders. This is a hybrid position in our Campbell, CA office (3 days per week in office) Base Pay Range The base pay range of this position is $80,000 to $110,000 USD annually.Please note that the provided range reflects the pay spectrum for positions within the same job category as the one to which this position belongs. The final offer will consider various factors, such as location, education, and prior experience, to ensure a comprehensive and fair compensation assessment. Expected Posting Timelines This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, a maximum of 90 days. The Day-to-Day The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Benefits Administration:

Oversee the day-to-day administration of all employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans (e.g., 401(k)), and other voluntary benefits. Assist in the administration of the company's equity programs, including stock options (ISO, NSO) and restricted stock units (RSUs).

Program Design and Implementation:

Evaluate current benefits programs, research industry trends, and recommend improvements or new programs to enhance our offerings and attract top talent. Lead the implementation of new benefits programs, including communication and enrollment processes.

Vendor Management:

Manage relationships with benefits vendors, including insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and brokers. In collaboration with your manager and senior manager, work to negotiate contracts and ensure vendors are meeting service level agreements.

Compliance:

Ensure all benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA. Stay up-to-date on changes in benefits laws and regulations and implement necessary updates to programs and policies.

Employee Communication:

Develop and deliver effective communication materials to educate employees about their benefit options and how to access them. This includes: new hire benefit orientations and open enrollment.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze benefits data to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and make recommendations for cost containment and improvements. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for management on benefits utilization and costs.

Problem Resolution:

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and resolve complex benefits issues in a timely and accurate manner.

Budget Management:

Assist in the development and management of the benefits budget. Monitor expenses and ensure programs are cost-effective.

Leave Administration:

Manage employee leave programs, including FMLA, disability, and other leave types, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies. Collaborate with the finance to ensure accurate payroll processing for employees on leave of absence, including calculating and processing any applicable benefits continuation payments or adjustments.

HRIS Management:

Maintain accurate employee benefits data in the HRIS system and ensure data integrity.

Benefits-Related Payroll Duties:

Oversee the accurate and timely processing of all benefits-related payroll deductions, including health insurance premiums, 401(k) contributions, HSA contributions, and other voluntary benefits deductions. Reconcile benefits-related payroll deductions with vendor invoices and HRIS data to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies. Collaborate with the finance team to correct any payroll errors related to benefits. Collaborate with Payroll to communicate timesheet and PTO approval deadlines for each payroll run, in addition to reconciling any projected hours post payroll run. Ensure timely approval of employee timesheets; follow up with managers as needed to resolve outstanding approvals.

Collaboration with Finance:

Maintain open communication and collaboration with the finance team to ensure seamless integration of benefits administration and payroll processing.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, with a strong understanding of benefits laws and regulations. Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation is preferred. Experience using HRIS systems to manage employee benefits data is required. Experience with payroll processes and benefits-related payroll deductions is a plus. Experience managing relationships with benefits vendors is preferred.
