Presidential Advancement Intelligence Officer

The Presidential Advancement Intelligence Officer is a hyper-targeted intelligence function designed to support high-stakes philanthropy through real-time insight, influence, and strategy. Reporting to the Presidential Advancement Strategic Correspondence Director, this role identifies and tracks emerging opportunities across key foundations, philanthropic networks, and high-networth individuals within the University President's sphere. By gathering intelligence, inserting timely information into engagement strategies, and co-creating approaches to secure transformational resources, the Intelligence Officer plays a critical role in advancing the University's development goals. What You'll Do:

Monitor and analyze activity among high-value foundations, philanthropic organizations, and ultra-high-networth individuals, with an emphasis on those within or adjacent to the University President's network. Track and interpret grantmaking trends, board affiliations, investment behavior, public statements, and strategic moves made by priority funders or influencers to inform ASU's development strategy. Identify key moments for engagement or messaging opportunities, surfacing insights that enable timely, targeted communications from the President or ASU leadership. Partner with the Presidential Advancement Strategic Correspondence Director to develop customized donor intelligence briefings and contribute to the creation of curated communications, ensuring insights are acted upon with precision and strategic alignment. Insert institutional messaging or ASU updates into external philanthropic conversations, identifying when, where, and how to proactively position ASU in front of key audiences. Develop strategic recommendations based on donor behavior and institutional alignment, helping to co-create approaches that drive major gift cultivation, proposal development, or partnership activation. Maintain a dynamic list of priority funders and individuals under active monitoring, regularly updating insight into their interests, affiliations, philanthropic activity, and alignment with university priorities. Contribute to the development of systems and tools for tracking, analyzing, and sharing donor intelligence, supporting long-term knowledge capture and scalability of this function. Curate and maintain strategic intelligence plans on key individuals and institutions, organizing insights, connections, and engagement history to support rapid briefing, campaign planning, and long-term cultivation strategy. Partner to design and implement digital and physical tools that support real-time donor engagement and strategic decision-making. What You'll Need:

Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large volumes of information into focused insights and actionable recommendations. Deep curiosity and intellectual agility, with a keen awareness of trends in philanthropy, higher education, and high-net-worth giving. Strategic mindset with the ability to think several steps ahead and identify patterns, openings, or risks within complex systems. Excellent written communication skills, particularly in conveying insights and donor intelligence clearly and persuasively. Comfort working in fast-paced, dynamic environments with shifting priorities and limited direction. High degree of discretion, integrity, and judgment in handling sensitive or confidential information. Ability to build and maintain systems for information capture, knowledge management, and intelligence sharing. Collaborative and proactive workstyle, with the ability to partner effectively with the Presidential Advancement Strategic Correspondence Director, development staff, and institutional leadership. Familiarity with philanthropic research tools, news tracking platforms, or donor intelligence systems is a plus. Relevant Qualifications:
