Board Of Directors Coordinator
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day. We make decisions that affect our transportation system, ensure the safety and well-being of our seniors, connect people to jobs, help families recover from natural disasters, preserve water quality for our children, and so much more. The Outreach and Government Affairs Team is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Board of Directors Coordinator to join our team. The coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating all board and committee-related activities. This position demands exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently with multiple programs and under pressure. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex schedules, preparing meeting materials, overseeing meeting logistics and facilitating effective communication between board members and senior leadership. What Will I Be Doing?
Preparing, editing, and issuing board and committee materials such as agendas, reports Attending senior leadership meetings to present status of board material and submissions Coordinating with board and committee members to determine meeting dates, and agendas Developing a quorum projection ahead of each Board and committee meeting Attending board and committee meetings to record and prepare minutes, decisions, and action items. Drafting, editing, and preparing resolutions for consideration and presentation to the H-GAC Board Coordinating public input received for any board and committee meetings Serve as agency point of contact for board software including, training for staff and troubleshooting Schedule board and committee meetings including logistics, catering, and audio-visual needs Other duties as assigned Key Qualifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office with the ability to design and edit graphic presentations and materials Experience with Adobe Acrobat, NovusAGENDA or other agenda management software Ability to prioritize and meet multiple, sometimes conflicting deadlines at a moment's notice Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently. Proactive approach to tasks, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively supporting a high-level executive and their team Strong verbal and written communication skills through various methods, both internal and external Exceptional organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail. Ability to review and proofread documents, reports, and presentations for grammatical errors, and formatting consistency Service oriented with a high degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, including Board members, senior executives, and staff Do You Have
Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study 3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
