The State of Hawai'i is offering a position at the Halawa Correctional Facility in Aiea with a starting monthly salary of $5,090.00. The position is located on the Island of Oahu. The duties of this role include managing a large institutional laundry operation through the assistance of working supervisors and performing other related duties as assigned. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application. This includes legal authorization to work in the United States, five years of commercial or institutional laundry experience, of which two years shall have included supervisory responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of management of laundry operations, the classification of soiled laundry for washing, the operation and care of washers, extractors, tumblers, mangles and other laundry equipment, use of and methods of preparing soap, bleach, starch, and other solutions, stain removal, principles and practices of supervision, and a valid driver's license are also required. Additionally, the applicant must not have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution, been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in (B) above, or been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment. Applicants who are conditionally offered employment or conditionally approved for movement into positions with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall be subject to drug screening, as required by Federal, State or local laws or departmental policy; and will be subject to an intensive background check.
