Program Manager

Location: East Meadow, NY (Hybrid, Remote) Reports to: Council Director FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt Organizational Summary Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. Trained volunteer coaches teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete the celebratory 5K running event at the end of each spring and fall season. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Position Summary The Program Manager is responsible for the management of GOTR programming in Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island and must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grade. This role provides pivotal support to the program and outreach events, collaborating with the team to effectively deliver the program, support coaches, and events throughout the season. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Program and Site Management Assist with coach and site recruitment. Support coaches throughout each season for feedback on their site, team, parents, issues, and supplies needed. Manage volunteer database recruitment applications and liaise with Suffolk County Coordinator to ensure background checks, training, and CPR are up-to-date. Create coach bags and coordinate distribution of supplies for all sites. Work with school administrators and PTAs to maximize Girls on the Run success. Make on-site visits to ensure that the program is being delivered in a manner that is consistent with GOTR mission and goals. Enforce all current site policies and procedures and generate innovation and improvement as needed. Coordinate delivery of program shirts. Assist in managing 5K event from volunteer recruitment and assignments to day-of execution. Site Outreach Identify sites where we may be able to expand and/or add a second. Identify potential future sites and recruit new coaches. Reach out to target schools within the territory, schedule and attend back to school nights, PTA/PTO meetings. Candidate Qualifications A genuine passion for GOTR and the ability to communicate our mission effectively. Bachelor's degree or 3 to 5 years relevant education and/or professional experience. Self motivated, detail oriented, organized, and skilled at working independently and collaboratively with limited supervision. Strong communication and listening skills, both written and oral. Demonstrated project management skills. Proficient with Canva, Microsoft Office, database management and shared file workspace. Must reside within our service area, have reliable transportation, and be able to travel locally for site visits and events. Available after school hours to do site visits during each season (mid-March-May and mid September-November). Some required evenings and weekends for GOTR events and training sessions. Comfortable in a hybrid work environment, including remote and in-person work at our office inside Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus. Experience with youth or wellness nonprofits a plus. Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time position with a salary range of $45,000 to $50,000, depending on experience.
