Clemson University is seeking a research assistant for the NSF-funded RAPID research project on electric power restoration timeline and emergency responses for Hurricane Helene in South Carolina. The position involves manuscript preparation, qualitative interviews and focus groups, and literature reviews. Job Summary: Provide in-depth research support for NSF-funded RAPID research project on electric power restoration timeline and emergency responses for Hurricane Helene in South Carolina. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Duties: 50% - Essential - Manuscript preparation: Transform qualitative analysis into data displays. Lead a research manuscript and write and finalize the manuscript. Assist in writing reports and journal articles, including creating tables and summaries of research results. 30% - Essential - Transcribe, verify and edit qualitative interviews and focus groups. Contact local government and policy makers and assist PI to conduct data. Create interview summaries/memos/episode profiles. 20% - Essential - Literature reviews: Conduct literature searches and systematic reviews on literature related to emergency response, power outage, and local disaster preparation policy and plans. Create summaries and spreadsheets to organize literature searches and systematic reviews. Minimum Requirements: Education - High School or Equivalent Work Exp 1+ years (6 months-1 year of in-depth experience with qualitative research and data analysis; skills with writing and some knowledge of survey design and data collection. Preferred Requirements: Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree Job Knowledge: Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations Supervisory Responsibilities: No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees. Budgetary Responsibilities: No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the departments budget. Physical Requirements: 50% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period 50% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself Working Conditions: Standard Hrs: 7 Compensation Information: Band: 03 (expected range: $13.17/hour -$15.00/hour) Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidates previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemsons compensation guidelines.
