Quality Assurance Specialist

Under the supervision of the Quality Supervisor, this position is responsible for monitoring and ensuring quality and food safety compliance throughout the process, maintaining lab inventory, coordinating sample collections and rework projects with Operations, and assisting the Quality Supervisor with customer request/requirements. Responsible for adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices, to ensure the production of safe quality products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Practice, teach and enforce the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) established for Quality Practice and enforce all Safety policies and procedures Review production records for compliance with quality standards Put together COA's together following customer requirements Read APC and rapid yeast and mold plates, update Micro Spreadsheet, and report out of spec results to Quality Manager Assist Techs with micro-plating and product testing when needed Manage customer sample requests (collection, shipping, and updating tracker) Manage lab supplies and inventory (complete weekly inventory and create/submit purchase order request) Take environmental monitoring swabs, ship to 3rd party lab, and update EMP tracker Assist in internal and external audits and documentation Assist in customer complaint investigations and documentation Coordinate rework projects with the production team and ensure necessary documentation is completed Assist with non-compliant quality and food safety investigations and ensure necessary documentation is completed Monitor Calibration Log for compliance and help schedule services Comply with all company policies, practices, and procedures Support team member safety by promoting safe work practices, monitoring compliance with policies, and minimizing physical hazards to promote an overall safe work environment Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill Learn, practice, and adhere to all Safety policies & procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) established for CPS Learn, practice, and adhere to all Quality policies and procedures including Safe Quality Food (SQF), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Quality Points (HACQP) Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
Education and Skills: Read, write, speak, and comprehend English HACCP (Hazzard Analysis Critical Control Point) Certified PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) Certified Comprehend basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights and measures, and efficient use of a calculator Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Proficient in Adobe and use of editing tools Ability to communicate both written and orally within the organization Ability to give positive suggestions to improve operations in the work center Team Oriented - being helpful, respectful, approachable, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment, is responsible, honest, loyal, interacting with others tactfully, resolving conflicts appropriately, and adapting to change Ability to manage time efficiently Ability to work well under changing demands Follow verbal and written instructions Must have good work ethics, be highly motivated, and be a hands-on problem solver Ability to detect, recognize, and judge discrepancies Requires accuracy, reliability, and attention to quality High school diploma or GED, and 2 years work experience in a manufacturing environment Physical Demands: Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standards Climb ladder up to 10 feet off the ground using safety equipment provided Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods, reach, push, pull, lift, climb, bend, stoop, squat, and use manual dexterity to work with the following tools: blending machines, scales, pallet jacks, drum dollies, mops, brooms, portable stairs, hoses, forklifts etc. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and move heavier weights using proper equipment and/or team lifting techniques Work Environment: Requires ability to work in an environment that may contain fumes, dust, odors, moderate level noise, and temperature and ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and/or protective clean room apparel required (e.g.: safety glasses, gloves, hair net, face mask or respirator, and uniforms)
