Test Technician

We do this by performing influential and highly cited biomechanics research, maintaining state-of-the-art testing capabilities, and leveraging a global network of leaders in experimental and computational biomechanical engineering. Biocore has an immediate opening for a full-time Test Technician for helmet and cleat testing. The purpose of the helmet and cleat testing is to evaluate equipment performance and ensure it meets safety standards. The technician needs experience to not only understand that the equipment is suitable to be tested but also that the machinery and instrumentation is current and operable. The technician must be comfortable with interpreting specifications, executing tests & standard operating procedures, troubleshooting malfunctions, collecting data, validating data quality throughout testing, and documenting/interpreting results. In addition to helmet and cleat testing, the Test Technician may support other testing as the need arises. The Test Technician will also share the responsibility of lab cleanliness and organization. They must also be willing and able to work under the direction of Biocore engineers and researchers. The position is based at our primary office in Charlottesville, VA. Test Technician Full-time, exempt employee In person at offices in Charlottesville, VA Willingness to travel up to 10 %. Associate or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as electronics, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent technical certifications or experience may also be sufficient. Conducting Tests: Performing various tests on products, systems, or components according to standard operating procedures to verify functionality, reliability, and durability. Interpreting Specifications: Understanding and applying quality standards, engineering diagrams, and product specifications to guide testing procedures. Troubleshooting: Identifying and diagnosing faults, malfunctions, and defects in products, data, or equipment. Data Analysis: Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting test results to identify areas for improvement. Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of test procedures, results, and findings. Preparing data for engineers, researchers, and product developers for customer reports. Collaboration: Working with engineers, researchers, and product developers to report findings and suggest improvements. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electronic, mechanical, or other relevant engineering principles and testing procedures. Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and troubleshoot technical issues. Problem-Solving: Capacity to identify & diagnose problems and develop solutions within a technical context. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate findings, both verbally and in writing. Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy in executing tests and documenting results. Hands-on Experience: Familiarity with testing equipment and instrumentation including: TDAS data acquisition systems, Biokinetics linear impactor, Cadex drop stands, accelerometers, load cells, high-speed cameras, universal testing machines, and other test equipment.
