Network Security Engineer
CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Network Security Engineer. As a Network Security Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our cybersecurity operations by leveraging a variety of industry-leading tools and technologies. You will have the opportunity to perform network security in cloud and on-premise environments following Scaled Agile (SAFe) principles and using platforms such as Cloudwatch, Wireshark, Nessus, Qualys, Corelight and ExtraHop. This role is ideal for individuals who are quick learners, proactive, and ready to take initiative in enhancing our security posture. This opportunity will support a dynamic, fast paced and energetic project focused on improving federal cybersecurity at civilian agencies. This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week. Your future duties and responsibilities: Develop and implement network security policies, protocols and procedures to protect the organization's data and systems. Monitor network traffic for security incidents and respond to threats in a timely manner. Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs and other security appliances to safeguard network perimeters. Lead incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication and recovery. Deploy and manage security tools such as intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus and endpoint protection solutions. Deploy and configure network sensors. Work with IT teams to ensure secure network architecture and provide training to staff on security best practices. Maintain detailed documentation of security policies, procedures, and incidents and prepare reports for management. Stay updated with the latest security trends and technologies to continuously improve the organization's security posture. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Due to the nature of the contract requirements, US citizenship and successful passing of CGI background check is required prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of related network experience (firewalls, routers, switches, network sensors and load balancers) Thorough understanding of network security including monitoring, detection and response. Experience in network configuration, performance tuning. Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve network issues. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated capacity to work independently and with teams with cross-functional responsibilities. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and environments. Commitment to continuous learning to stay updated with the latest cloud services, features and best practices. Excellent communication skills. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks and challenges.
