Help make recommendations to correct safety and occupational health deficiencies in production operations, construction operations and at the program level. Evaluate new or different safety trends for policy development to control or eliminate hazards to personnel and property. Routinely review, update, and implement a full scope safety program for all installation DoD military and civilian employees to comply with federal regulations. Investigate accidents to determine root cause(s) and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Interpret construction regulation(s) to develop local methods and procedures for compliance. The position will exercise professional knowledge and independent judgment in identifying hazards, assessing risk, and recommending hazard controls to decision makers. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assess risk to personnel and property to develop risk strategies; Develop and recommend safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management to mitigate potential new hazards, and Interpret federal construction regulations to develop local procedures for compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
