Join our team and mission at the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) in Lander. WLRC operates an Intermediate Care Facility and a newly constructed Skilled Nursing Facility and is excited to build our team of CNAs! WLRC has adopted the Greenhouse model of care which is based upon the values of, "Real Home", "Meaningful Life" and "Empowered Staff." As part of the State of Wyoming, Department of Health, our team members enjoy a very favorable schedule of twelve-hour shifts with three or four days off work each week and an excellent compensation and benefits package! This position is eligible for a $2,000 hiring bonus. See Notes section for eligibility and conditions. Human Resource Contact: Tammy / 307-335-6784 / tammalee.keysaw1@wyo.gov Essential Functions: Complete delegated and assigned direct care and nursing tasks. Teach, assist and monitor personal care, recreation, leisure and community inclusion skills through formal and informal interactions to encourage resident growth and independence. Provide therapeutic intervention, personal physical care and activities of daily living for people with multiple and severe disabilities while documenting all care provided. Complete specialized Greenhouse (Shahbaz) training and perform associated duties. Participate in a variety of team meetings, record progress, provide feedback, and document the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Escort residents to out-of-facility appointments. Provide direct observation and necessary interventions for individuals with challenging behavioral issues in accordance with behavior and care plans. Maintain cleanliness of resident living areas. Serve as rotating Coordinator on the Self-Managed Work Team. Mentors new direct care staff in understanding unit procedures and routines Act as an advocate for disabled individuals in communicating their needs and goals. Ensure proper infection control procedures are used at all times. Maintain CNA certification and requirements set by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing. Other duties as assigned. Preferences/Agency Requirements: Current Wyoming Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate is required. Completion of internal Greenhouse (Shahbaz) training is required within six months of date of hire. Knowledge: Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Medicare/Medicaid Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) regulations. Ability to teach residents in formal and informal settings. Knowledge of resident protocols and interventions of therapy. Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and management of aggressive behaviors. Knowledge of ethics and how to maintain professional boundaries and how to interact positively with people with multiple and severe disabilities, co-workers, leadership, families, and the public. Skills in using a computer and applicable software applications. Ability to maintain emotional control in stressful situations. Knowledge of emergency procedures such as BLS, First Aid and MANDT. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of basic nursing equipment. Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors. Minimum Qualifications: Education & Experience Substitution: 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Human Services Aide OR Education: Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare) Experience: 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Human Services Aide Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CNA Certification at the time of hire Ability to complete Greenhouse (Shahbaz training) within six (6) months of hire. Physical Working Conditions: Safely move (twisting, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position, and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities. Ability to see and hear sufficiently to monitor sounds, noises, location of clients, etc. to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns. Ability to work alone and/or with multiple residents. Ability to intervene and provide support and redirection during resident behavior episodes. Ability to work in a high-stress situation when necessary. Notes: FLSA: Non-Exempt The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the FBI for every successful applicant. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists. Hiring Bonus eligibility and conditions: New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent position. Current state employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been open to the public. One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay. Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from the promotion date. Employees will only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
