Sr. Epic Security Analyst I

The Sr. Epic Security Analyst I will report to the Epic Leadership team; their primary role is to have a complete working knowledge of their assigned EPIC application, to include an understanding of the assigned department workflows for the associated EPIC build, upgrade, and release process. They will work independently in managing application-related service tickets, documenting findings, and communicating status with the end-users. The Sr. Epic Security Analyst I will support problem resolution, enhancement requests, and project tasks by building system components, testing, documenting workflows and related information and maintenance. The Sr. Epic Security Analyst I will follow the software development lifecycle to manage development, testing and deployment of changes as well as internal governance processes. They will be proactive in the investigation and application of best practices and have a good understanding of regulatory requirements related to the healthcare industry. Essential Functions of the Job: Collaborates with departments, operational leaders, physicians, and clinical staff to design analyses that identify opportunities for improvements in care, evaluates adherence to clinical best practice, and measures outcomes; provides innovative solutions utilizing best practices, use of standards and develops design to create and maintain system solutions Identifies, analyzes, and recommends improvements and enhancements to operational processes, system automation, and information flows to ensure greater integration of functions within the organization with a focus on clinical workflow Designs, performs, and documents data analysis in support of clinical improvement; utilizing quality improvement principles, develops and evaluates quality and regulatory reports in support of clinical excellence and compliance; monitors systems impact on user and departmental workflows, and incorporates results into systems enhancements Serves as a clinical resource and subject matter expert; maintains knowledge of the best practices and current advances in healthcare and information technology; combines knowledge, skills, and experience with technical knowledge to create systems that improve the quality of patient care Implements testing requirements and processes including scripts, records test results, facilitates end user testing, hardware testing, and maintains test environments; makes recommendations Provides testing for new modules and system upgrades; installs or upgrades software applications; troubleshoots software and application related problems; participates in the evaluation of new module releases and provides complex analysis and evaluation of systems effectiveness in providing clinical pathways of documentation Follows quality assurance standards, systems development, and delivery methodologies, change management and release management processes to communicate system changes Participates in project planning meetings to collaborate with project stakeholders and works with the EPMO team as required Reviews changes and upcoming developments in software applications and actively seeks out ways to improve processes or workflows Manages application requests using the internal ticketing system, updates statuses and documents resolutions as required by internal processes and policies Prepares test data, creates test scripts, and works with project team and end-users to perform testing of upgrades, changes, and new implementations Maintains current EHR knowledge and other clinical and business systems Provides feedback to the team regarding software application improvements and/or innovations Exemplify and promote the department's four key success factors: Positivity, Ownership, Efficiency and Transparency, when working with both internal and external customers Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Will be required to follow IT Change Control processes, create support documentation following standard protocols and have working knowledge of HIPAA and other IT security and privacy best practices Adheres to all applicable SYHealth policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills in collaboration with teams to achieve quality, excellence, harmony and problem-solving to obtain stated goals and objectives Demonstrates active listening skills, respect and a positive "Can Do" attitude Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading literature to keep up-to-date related to healthcare laws and Leadership, attending in-service trainings and workshops to improve upon knowledge and skillset Attends meetings, as required, and participates on committees, as directed Demonstrates professional behavior standard etiquette, courtesy, mutual respect, confidentiality and treats every patient and employee with dignity in every interaction Exhibits a high level of integrity, ethics, transparency, leadership style and trust Promotes and fosters respect for patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality on all patient EHR data and abides by both the HIPAA Privacy and Security rules Exhibits excellent presentation skills, confidently speaks up, follows the appropriate chain of command and demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills Maintains a clean, safe and organized work area at all times Performs any other job-related duties as needed, assigned, or requested Job Requirements: Education Required (Minimum level of Education): High School diploma or equivalent required Certifications/Licenses Required: Epic Certified in Epic Security Provider (SER) Badge Experience Required (Minimum level of Experience): Minimum of 6 years of application support experience as a certified Epic Security Analyst Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong facilitation and presentation skills Think abstractly beyond basic data requirement Communicate in a clear and concise manner, verbally and in writing Communicate effectively and partner with senior level staff to determine business goals and objectives, and ways to partner in order to achieve those objectives Exercise strong planning, organizing, and communication skills Work independently and as a team Work on multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines Work outside normal business hours as necessary to support production-sensitive projects Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job: Strong technical knowledge of EPIC Security module Familiarity with healthcare IT systems, including interfaces and integrations Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to resolve system issues Strong communication and interpersonal skills Equipment Used: Laptop, Office Equipment Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: This hybrid position is intended to be primarily remote, with expectation for occasional on-site presence based on business need (Quarterly Town Halls; Go-Live Events; etc.) Flexibility in schedule to meet project deadlines Sitting for extended periods of time Sufficient dexterity to effectively operate a computer keyboard and other related peripherals Universal Requirements: Pre employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
