Interpretation And Education Participant
The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces, and much more across the country. Project Location: Waco, Texas Position Dates: September 1, 2025 - July 11, 2026 = 45 weeks Position Description: One 45-week individual placement in support of frontline interpretation and education at Waco Mammoth National Monument. Participant will assist park staff at Waco Mammoth National Monument by providing accurate information on park resources, directions, special events, park safety, and by providing interpretive programs to the public. As a result, the individual placement will provide visitors an opportunity to have a safe, enjoyable, and educational park experience. Individual placement will be an integral member of the park's interpretation team by assisting in offering excellent customer service and interpretive opportunities for park visitors. This SCA position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority. Member Benefits: Living Allowance: $600 per week Commuter Allowance: $24.00 per week Local Candidates Only; housing NOT provided AmeriCorps Eligible. AmeriCorps Enrollment Notice This position may be eligible for AmeriCorps enrollment. However, the SCA has not yet received confirmation of a grant award for this program. If funding is awarded, you may qualify for an AmeriCorps Education Award. If not, you will serve in a non-AmeriCorps role with the same living allowance and benefits. If selected, you will be updated on AmeriCorps funding status before your start date.
