Designer Position

Selectek has an exciting opportunity with a growing utility firm for a Designer role that will assist with updating power distribution drawings. The position will draft and design complex projects ensuring they are safe, cost effective and reliable distribution power facilities for residential, commercial and industrial sites. Job Duties Include: Prepare project and job packages that include material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings and construction drawings for various installations of electrical facilities in a cost-effective manner that maximizes safety and service reliability. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, change orders, improvement plans, construction specifications, procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc. Perform drafting work and assist in the preparation of designs, plans and reports. Make accurate engineering calculations. Collect and analyze field data and prepare accurate and detailed reports and records. Learn, practice, and promote ALL safety policies and procedures 100% of the time. Apply various codes, requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures to all assigned work to create safe and cost-effective designs for projects of moderate complexity for both overhead and underground projects. Use various design software and work management tools. Evaluate distribution equipment such as transformers and fusing. Follow utility construction practices on public right of way (ROW) and private land. Regularly communicate job status to assure client expectations and deliverable dates are met. Coordinate with construction personnel and clients to resolve any project issues. Develop relationships with key internal and external customers while supporting both company and client's business goals and expectations while representing themselves both positively and professionally. Maintain files and records in an organized manner. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Required: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or associate's in engineering with 2 plus years of experience. Interest in a career in the Utility industry. Job order details: The purpose of the Designer I position is to apply technical skills to design complex projects and provide expertise in safe, cost effective and reliable distribution power facilities for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Essentially this role will take data gathered by the fielding team and utilized a proprietary CAD software to update drawings with accurate information. It will be a mixture of drafting and light design work to begin with. Sponsorship: No, must be US Citizen or Green Card holder Pay range: $24/hour - $26/hour ($50,000 - $55,000 annual salary) Term of assignment: 6 months contract to direct Pay method when direct: Hourly role eligible for time and a half pay Location of job: Sharonville, OH Hours and shift: Monday

Friday, 8AM

5PM (some flex time) Work from home: Yes to start, but once their office is open in late August/September they will be expected to go into the office. They will likely have some kind of hybrid schedule, but they have not worked that out yet. Working remote: No Overtime expected: Minimal Travel: Minimal. Occasionally in the beginning they may be asked to go out to a location with a field rep so they can get an idea of what they are drafting/designing but it won't be a regular part of their job.
