Supervisor, Quality Control

The Supervisor, Quality Control is responsible for overseeing a team performing the inspection and validation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and sub-systems to ensure they meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role leads a team of inspectors in a production environment, providing guidance on quality processes, functional testing, and system integration checks. The QC Supervisor ensures that inspections conducted using Mission Planning Software (MPS) and Ground Control Station (GCS) tools are executed accurately and consistently. They will be accountable for maintaining compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards, ensuring all platforms and subsystems are properly configured, integrated, and mission-ready. In addition to hands-on inspection support, the supervisor plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement and maintaining quality control documentation and reporting. Essential Functions Assist with the development of a Quality Control inspection program within a production environment for Group 2/3 UAS subsystems, including avionics, telemetry, GNSS, and companion computing integration. Provide daily oversight, training, and technical guidance to Quality Inspectors to ensure consistent execution of inspection procedures and adherence to quality standards. Manage incoming, in-process, and final inspection workflows, including review of software configurations, flight-ready hardware assemblies, and operational safety criteria. Support the development and implementation of verification and validation procedures leveraging Mission Planning Software, Ground Control Station (GCS) interfaces, and flight configuration tools. Supervise and perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections across all stages of production, with particular focus on composite structures and additive manufacturing outputs. Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, configuration checklists, and manufacturing build documentation to verify conformance to design and quality standards. Review, document, and maintain inspection records in accordance with internal QMS protocols, ensuring audit readiness and traceability for all deliverables. Lead non-conformance reporting (NCR), perform root cause analysis (RCA), and drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives to closure. Ensure full traceability of parts, processes, and configuration baselines in accordance with AS9100/ISO 9001 QMS and contractual requirements. Oversee calibration verification activities for test and measurement equipment used in inspection and functional validation processes. Maintain current knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., AS9102, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) and embed industry best practices into quality inspection procedures. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications and Competencies Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software subsystem integration. Proficiency with mission planning software for testing and evaluation of ArduPilot based systems. Ability to read and interpret aero-mechanical drawings (GD&T preferred), electrical harness drawings, integration block diagrams, and composite/3D printing specifications. Detailed knowledge of quality management system standards such as ISO 9001/AS9100, with a focus on control of nonconforming material and record retention. Strong attention to detail and organization, as well as rigorous documentation in accordance with DoD programs of record. Working knowledge with SPC, common root cause analysis tools, and continuous improvement practices preferred. Proficient with all Microsoft office applications, macro/VBA solution development preferred. Education / Certifications Associate degree or vocational training in Electronics, Avionics, Aerospace Technology, or a related technical field required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Additional coursework or certification in quality, aerospace manufacturing, or UAS systems is highly desirable (e.g. IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001, ASQ Certified Quality Inspector). Experience 6+ years of industry experience in a manufacturing or production environment, quality specific role preferred. 2+ years of leadership experience Previous experience with CubePilot ecosystem, RFD telemetry, and GNSS/RTK modules. Experience supporting DoD or defense industry contracts and understanding of controlled work environments. Physical Requirements Frequently required to sit, and to reach to use computers and other office equipment. Occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time. Frequently required repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Security Clearance Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
