FSQ Supervisor

The FSQ Supervisor is a key member of the plant leadership team responsible for supervising all food safety, quality assurance, sanitation, and compliance functions across the facility. This role ensures all products meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements for food safety and quality. The FSQ Supervisor will lead the quality technician team and operations including the following: manage the quality lab operations, lead inspections and audits, ensure completion of compliance documentation, and partners cross-functionally to promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability in food safety and quality across the organization. Key Responsibilities
Supervise, coach and develop quality technicians across all production shifts. Lead onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and development planning for direct reports. Manage team scheduling, payroll review, attendance, and Career Tier progression. Foster a strong team culture focused on quality, safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Food Safety & Quality Assurance
Maintain and enforce all food safety and quality systems including GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, HACCP, FSMA, SQF, and EMP programs. Act as site lead or support for all third-party, regulatory (FDA, USDA, WI DATCP), and customer audits. Lead internal audits, facility inspections, mock recalls, and traceability tests. Manage and document corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and lead root cause analysis efforts. Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations including FSMA and FSVP. Maintain documentation and support for regulatory bodies and certification. Quality Program Oversight
Oversee product testing programs including analytical and process control testing. Ensure review and compliance of quality documentation is complete, accurate and audit ready. Monitor cooler temperature logs and sanitation records for compliance. Support the FSQ Director in strategic planning, reporting, and improvement initiatives. Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Operations, Sanitation, and other functions to troubleshoot issues and drive process improvement. Share and implement best practices across plant locations and within the FSQ team. Education & Experience
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field preferred. 510 years of progressive experience in food safety/quality in a manufacturing environment. 5+ years of quality or lab experience required, preferably in Food Manufacturing. Experience managing audits and regulatory inspections. Prior leadership or readiness for formal people leadership required. Required Skills & Qualifications
Working knowledge of food safety and quality systems (HACCP, FSMA, GMP's, SOP's, SQF, SSOP's). Strong attention to detail with a commitment to documentation accuracy. Clear verbal and written communication skills across all levels. Ability to coach and hold others accountable while fostering team growth. Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with knowledge of root cause analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Certifications (not required):
HACCP Certification PCQI Certification SQF Practitioner Certification Experience in cheese or dairy manufacturing Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing knowledge Physical Requirements:
Ability to move between office and manufacturing environments (exposure to noise, temperature changes, and wet conditions). Requires standing, walking, and inspecting equipment for extended periods. Occasional lifting, bending, or reaching may be required.
